My unforgettable spring

I have been a Caregiver for nearly 25 years to the elderly with Alzheimer and Dementia, paralyzed, bedridden, shut-ins or no family in the USA. In February this year I had, what it seems like, a nervous breakdown, being on a very difficult case, with lots of physical aspects involved also, besides the mental and emotional, which I did not realize till it was too late and I had no choice but to leave the job, before I was getting even more sick.

In two short weeks, I was going to the ER in agonizing pain, fever, vomiting. They were unable to figure out what I was suffering from, so I was treated for unrelated symptoms and was released after over night. Few days later I was back w/the same problems, but this time I had brought up the previous visit and was given more and careful attention. I was there for 3 days and nights, 2 in the ER. This time I was diagnosed correctly and it was one due to extremely high stress that I was under and went through for 3.5 years, with previous amounting stress factors, from the same line of work.

I was not able to eat much for weeks, solids anyway. I was living on saltines and broth during those weeks and lost 25 lbs. I hated most foods I loved before so my diet changed drastically and I had to fallow a strict diet, still do. Any fast food place smell was making me sick. My body got weak and flabby all over from the quick weight loss. Had to use a cane for months, around my home and another out to the store, just to survive. I used an electric scooter in the store, since I could hardly stand. I did not leave my home during my recovery only when absolutely necessary. I could use the weight loss, most of us can, but never under these circumstances.

Due to these painful events I had incurred extremely high hospital, ER, doctor and lab bills and my insurance refuses to pay for technical reasons, as it would be the case most of the time, since it is more convenient for me to pay them, while they don't pay anything. For sure I don't have the money to pay those bills, in the amount of $25,000.00+ or the Credit card bills that amounted from not able to having an income for a few months, just to scrape by while I was recovering, that being $10,000.00+.

I have no one to ask for help. I am alone, a one person band, so I have to ask here for help, hopeful that there are people out there in this country and in the world that would not give up on a dedicated Health Care "Soldier" who needs help at her turn. I already went to all places and entities that help in situations like this, but I don't qualify, by age and other such criteria.

So...I am asking here: please HELP! I will keep you in my prayers and all the people and cases I have visited here on this site. As soon as I get on my feet, I intend to pledge cases on here, myself. I had no idea of this great helping community existed online. A little bit goes a long way. God Bless You ALL! Beneficiaries and Backer alike!
