My Special Brother needs help. Fundraising for Christian a boy with Autism.

His name is Christian Berciles from Baseco Philippines, turning 26 this January 27, 2020, but he’s a mental state is like a 2 years old child.

• He is dependent on his family in almost everything.
• His language ability is minimal.
• He will only ask for food, pee time and poo time.
• He cannot tell us what and where it hurts.
• He has so many repetitive behaviors that are tiring and restless.
• Most of the time he has little sleep at night and there are times that he will have half or one hour of sleep.
• Even with medication, he becomes violent and aggressive.
• He’s been in and out of hospital since December 2018.

My brother was diagnosed with ASD at 5 years old but because of poverty, we did not afford to send him to SPED school. our knowledge about his condition is very limited.

As child he is a very sweet and loving specially to our mother. There are times that he was able to help selling cigarettes when they are living in street, it is also the time that he has more language ability but as he grows up and the family experience hardship in life he’s intellectual ability deteriorate and he’s behavior become aggressive.

He started to become violent when he was twenty years old and hospitalized due to severe aggression. Since then he maintains olanzapine and everything went almost ok.

This December 2018 he was admitted again due to severe aggression and was referred to dental and they found out that he has two impacted teeth. In God's grace, he was allowed to be admitted to the psychiatric ward of Philippine General Hospital and had he’s dental operation. They were able to remove one impacted teeth plus a couple of decaying teeth and we thought he’s suffering will end but he’s challenging behavior continues… and he was still in and out of the hospital. The doctors try different combinations of medication but his aggression becomes erratic and the condition did not get better.

He was admitted 6 times this year. one due to hypoglycemia and the other because of his aggression. Even we are in a public hospital the family in is great emotional and financial distress.

We are still rooting out the cause of his aggression, and we are having difficulties. as we learn about his condition we realize that my brother will need a lot of medical workups and being in a charity ward limit us to access any specialize doctors or facility that may truly address his needs.

We already out used his PhilHealth charity funds and still in the same dilemma. We have learned to a face book support group that individuals like my brother will need a lot of medicine modification, behavioral therapy and diet therapy which is very expensive for a family like us, our parents are both seniors, growing old and weaker, also have a medical condition. I am the only provider of the family and already in big debt just to sustain my brother's medications and family's needs.

And so we are knocking on your kind hearts to please aid us in covering the expenses for his medications, laboratory workups other things like therapies, etc., that will help improve his condition. We will greatly appreciate your donations, regardless of any amount.
