Campaign Story
My son, Ryan was born without his lower left arm and hand. Up to now, he's coped with this, finding strategies to deal with it. However, he's now 17 and needs a working arm and hand to continue his dream of driving steam trains. He's volunteered at KESR for 3 years now but cannot progress to the next level of his training without 4 points of contact on the train – which is impossible at the moment. The NHS offers 3 different arms but they are all purely cosmetic. This 3D hand actually works!! We could print his arm with a 3D printer and U.S. based charity “e-ENABLE” will help us with the software and top technicians – if we can raise £2000 to buy a 3d printer. If we can do this, I will help others who are in need of a working prosthesis.. This is an exciting new innovation and could help so many people if we can get the ball rolling. Thank you!

Ryan should move to Barrow Hill in Chesterfield, Derbyshire - home of the famous Round House. He could drive steam trains every week there! They are always looking for people to work at the Round House (paid and volunteers). I am surprised a 3D printer is only 2,000. We should easily raise that. I shall pass on the link. Much love and best wishes - and good luck in reaching the goal! Lynne and Bryan - Barrow Hill, Chesterfield
