Hi! My sister is a very bubbly yet shy person. Since February 27, 2023 she started having a fever that lasted for more than a week. She was brought to the hospital to have some tests run on her. Tests are expensive and this left a huge dent on our savings. We thought this nightmare was over, but she still got the occasional fever, headaches, and vomiting.

Days after, March 14, 2023, we rushed her to the hospital because she hasn’t been herself. She kept on repeating her name and she wasn’t responding when asked what my name was.

She has been absent for quite a few weeks and I believe she’ll be returning to school in August (hopefully!)

She had an emergency shunt procedure last Wednesday (March 15) and we almost lost her the night before that. It’s quite a relief knowing she’s way better now. She’s still under a ventilator and she’s still up for the removal of her shunt, but she gives a thumbs up every now and then.

The thing is, with 7 doctors and a brain-related procedure, the bill can rack up so high and hour money is running low. We’re being proactive with raising money now so we won’t have to rush trying to generate money for her bills later on. One day inside the hospital costs a lot of money.

I hope you can help us with this. Any amount will do. She’s dear and precious to our hearts. She is a fighter and I know she’ll get through this.

I didn’t attach any photos of her in the hospital this time because we’re not allowed to take electronic devices inside the ICU. What I have here are photos of her from the first few weeks of march.

Thank you!

Update as of March 18, 2023:

She's doing better! She's been waving, giving thumbs up, and the nurses love her.

As of March 19, 2023

She's been forming heart signs with her hands and arms. She's lovely. She's been taken off of being intubated, then the oxygen mask, and now I believe she has a nasal cannula. She's definitely getting better.

As of April 10, 2023

My mom told me her doctors are already preparing her for discharge. She just has to finish the course of her antibiotics. We're so happy to finally bring her home. We're also somehow afraid of how much the final bill will cost. Thankfully, through donations and the help of a lot of people, we've been able to slowly chop off that running bill and bring the outstanding balance to a manageable sum. We're so grateful to everyone. Really, we are.
