MY Romania School

We enable Romanian-speaking migrants, as well as other members of  new migrant communities, to become active citizens and contribute to the Big Society.

“MY Romania Group” works so that the Romanian-speaking community are able to use universal services, find work and feel socially included.  We want them to feel more confident, to vote, to take care of their environment, to be less isolated, active  and to be happy.

We want

• the Romanian heritage to be strengthened and valued

• less prejudice and discrimination within and towards the Romanian-speaking community

• young Romanians to feel confident and valued and relations between them and older members of the community to be mutually respectful and supportive

• an end to domestic abuse and men and women from the community to thrive equally

• strong and productive links among Romanian communities abroad.

Who we are

“MY Romania Group” is an active user-led organisation that advances the education and training of the Romanian speaking people in the UK , so as to enable them to take full and active roles in their communities. MY Romania Group:

• provide advice, help and support so that our community orientate, settle and gain access to education, training and  employment, as well as fully participate and play an active role to the Big Society

• have a board of trustees, 75 % of whom are from our community. Other trustees have joined the board due to the expertise they have in their field. “MY Romania group” currently works on a voluntary base.

• have a large team of volunteers, usually between 15 and 20 volunteers each year. They are mostly from the Romanian community. However we currently have students undertaking voluntary work with “MY Romania Group” that is linked to their research studies.

“MY Romania Group” run a couple of projects that also promote the development, education, health and well-being of our community.
