Father’s Day Update (16 June 2019):

With help from your donations and prayers, Papa is now well enough and was discharged from the hospital last Friday.

From the hospital dinala namin si Papa to Saint Pio Home for the Elderly in Marikina City, which we selected after visits to several home care facilities. Hindi na namin kayang i-special care siya sa house due to his full body paralysis, NGT feeding and he still cannot speak. We feel this is the best for now. They have in-house cargeivers there 24/7 and a physical therapist.

For now, tapos na ang battles namin at the hospital. We are still waiting for assistance we requested from other government agencies para makabawas sa monthly payments namin to the hospital. We are using your donations to pay for Papa’s nursing home care, medicines, and supplies.

Thank you po sa inyong lahat! God bless your kind hearts!

Update as of 09 June 2019:

Papa is now allowed to go home.

However, we still need to settle our balance at the hospital. After almost a month in the hospital, our bill reached Php 1.3 million. We were able to pay Php 500,000 with the help of donations from friends and relatives. But we still need to pay our balance amounting to Php 706,000 for us to get home.

We are currently processing our requests for financial assistance to PCSO and other government agencies but these may not be enough to cover the balance and his after-care for at least the next six months (physical therapy, medicines, and supplies).

We are still accepting help thru the following bank accounts, Paypal, Western Union, and Xoom:

Account Name: MARGEAUX MARTINEZ
Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Savings Acct: 960 906 8954
Banco De Oro (BDO) Savings Acct: 357-01234-77

Again, maraming maraming salamat po! May God forever bless your kind hearts.

ORIGINAL POST

My papa needs your help.

It’s been 15 days since we rushed our father here in Delos Santos Medical Care Center. My father, Priscilo B. Martinez suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, which affected the left hemisphere of his brain and rendered the right-side limbs of his body weak and paralyzed. He was admitted to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) for 10 days. As of this writing, we are still at the hospital still under medication for edema (swelling in his brain), high blood pressure, and infections in his lungs and blood.

As of today, May 24, 2019, our balance due to pay in Delos Santos Medical Center (Quezon City) for his hospitalization have reached more than Php800,000 and is still increasing. This excludes the professional fees of the attending physicians, which is estimated to reach another Php150,000-200,000 on top of our final bill. The expenses reached this amount due to the medications for the complications that caused the stroke and others that took place during his hospitalization. Several diagnostics tests were needed and other specialized endocrine tests were performed to determine whether my father has metabolic disorder which the physicians think further complicates his hypertension. These diagnostic tests also comprise a large portion of the hospital bill, and the additional tests would incur added expenses.

This is not the first time that my father suffered stroke. His first major attack happened in 2007, wherein he was hospitalized for over a month. Since his first major stroke, despite our attempts to rehabilitate his affected limbs, he is unable to move on his own and mostly bed-ridden and wheelchair-bound most of the time. Me and my brother, Janssen, were forced to stop schooling for 2 years to take care of Papa and to lessen the financial burden that we experienced during his first stroke's hospitalization.

As of the moment, my father is still considered under critical condition and his body is totally paralyzed. The health situation of my father since 2007 has been burdening our family for more than a decade and the occurrence of his second stroke have further aggravated our financial situation. We’ve already exhausted our possible sources of cash to partially settle his increasing hospitalization bills, which include salary loans, and help from relatives and friends. Unfortunately, the help which came from those sources aren’t enough to even cover half of our current bill.

We would appreciate any form of help that you could extend, and we will be forever grateful.
