My Mother-in-Law’s Leukemia Battle (Carmelita Unay)

Mama Carmelita, 59, stay at home, a hardworking and heedful Mom from Antipolo is knocking on your humble hearts for financial assistance as she battles against AML or Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML is one of the most common types of leukemia in adults. This is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes abnormal myeloblasts (a type of white blood cell), red blood cells or platelets. The myeloblasts in AML are abnormal and do not become healthy white blood cells. When this happens, infection, anemia, or easy bleeding may occur. This is the reason why she developed Pneumonia (lung infection).

Her unwell condition started on the 2nd day of January, she was experiencing dry cough, difficulty in breathing, feeling weak and exhausted. It was on the 24th of January when the Doctor confirmed her disease. She is currently under oxygen treatment, blood transfusion and has been in the hospital bed for 13 days now. Hospitalization expenses are rising up to Php500,000.00. Her health card has been maxed out as well as the combined savings of her five sons.
