My mom, Lydia Alvez, battle against pneumonia & hiatal hernia surgery complications

Hi everyone! My siblings and I created this page as we are in need of more prayers and financial help for the full recovery of our mom, Lydia Alvez.

My mother underwent hiatal hernia surgery last 10 Aug at the Manila Medical Center. Though the congenital defect was fixed by surgery, we weren't prepared physically, mentally and financially, with the complications which came during & post-surgery.

My mother developed pneumonia and a tearing on the esophagus which was also stitched during surgery. However, during an endoscopy last 16 Aug, esophageal bypass surgery was required to fix a rupture. What should have been a few days stay at the hospital, has now become more than a month (and counting) of recovery.

Last weekend, 12 September, my mom was also transferred to Intensive Management Unit (IMU) for close monitoring, due to a sudden drop in potassium and platelet count, sharp increase in sodium, and internal bleeding. The pneumonia also progressed and has now affected both lungs. A huge THANK YOU to all those who helped us get B+ RBC on very short notice.

As of today, 17 September, our mom is still in IMU. She's slowly recovering but still intubated. Our bill has gone up to P2.2M and our running bill (without PF added yet) as of 9:11am of 17 September is at P1.160M (and still counting).

We know that the past months has been really hard for everyone... I hope you could spare a minute of your time to say a prayer for my mother's full recovery.
