My mission to stop being downed and accused

My husband and I have been very good friends with another couple (I'll call them M for male and F for female) for nearly 20 years. To cut a long story short they acquired a male kitten. This kitten grew up and began visiting us, the downside of this was that the cat attacked our cats every single time.

One day a cat fight progressed into an area between a roof and a ceiling. Both cats got poked in the back by nails, our cat worse than the neighbors cat. Their cat was treated by a vet, I couldn't afford to take mine to the vet but we treated him and he is fine. We were then accused by M of shooting his cat!!! My husband went to see him and got insulted for his trouble.

Through our long friendship M and F have been extremely good to us, we are all off road lovers and have a lot of very good mutual friends in the off roading community in our area.

I was unaware that M and F were keeping a list with values attached to the things they had so called 'given' us over the years. This list has been shown to some of our mutual friends and at least one stranger that I know of.

I desperately want to pay them back the amount they claim we owe them. We have been terribly hurt by their allegations and I would like to have the pleasure of personally paying off what I can.
