For all of those who do not know me, my name is Lindsey M. Williams. In 2014 I spent 5 months in Europe abroad not only receiving an education, but also volunteering in schools and homeless shelters. I helped educate the youth at Lycée Carcado Saisseval in Paris, France for 1 month and 1/2 as well as assisting at Colegio Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes in Sevilla, Spain 3 times a week for 2 months. It was also my due diligence to volunteer 5 days a week at Caritas Soup Kitchen in Rome, Italy as the leader of the program as well as spearhead the "Midnight Run" program in which distributed sandwiches, waters, and fruits to the homeless.   I am a 2014 St. John's University Graduate with a Bachelors of Arts in English and a minor in Theology. Also I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, initiated through the Omicron Alpha Chapter in the spring of 2012. At present, I am a Student Advocate at the Harlem Children's Zone in New York, New York, fighting every day relentlessly to provide the Harlem community with health and educational services. These accolades have forged me to become a holistic, open minded, tenacious individual, naturally with a heart of gold and a willingness to fight for the betterment of the world by any means necessary.   In April 2015, I have been granted the opportunity to attend a mission trip to Haiti. "Missions are not for everyone, It takes a special calling to be a Missionary.” which I truly aspire to be, especially for our youth in every country, of every race, creed, religion and culture. This Volunteer trip is done by http://ChristianHand.org and it would be a great honor for me to attend as the opportunity was presented to me by Executive Board member Ms. Ludine Pierre. This volunteer experience will help me to assist in the building of schools, education, and youth first arriving in Port-au-Prince Haiti and fulfilling the rest of my volunteer work in Camp-Perrin, township of Cayes, in the South of Haiti. These are the children of our future, and any resources not accessible to them, I strive to do anything in my power to get them just that and more. The poverty in Haiti is like no other. As a volunteer I will be feeding 500+ children as well as teaching and giving out clothing. I will also be of assistance in providing medical attention when needed. My efforts in this cause can attribute to mass impact within Haiti. Although a portion of the funds donated will be distributed to my mission, a majority will be donated to TheChristianHand.Org and its affiliated church. Also, another portion of the funds will be donated to JOEDES Development Center, which is in Leogane, Haiti, which is a hope village center that promotes health, education, and sports to implement sustainable skill training that creates opportunity for a brighter future and improve the quality of life in the Haitian community.   This, is not a Haitian issue, this is a HUMAN issue. This is a world issue, and anything I can do in my power, I will. Please help me to help those in need of the very things many take for granted. Simple medicines, books, clothes, food, school supplies and so much more. People get a chance to change lives everyday sometimes all you need is one chance to create the biggest impact. Please allow me to have my opportunity to change the world, Thank you.
