My Fur Baby Got Hit By a Truck

Dear Friends, Family, & All Animal Lovers,

On Tuesday December 18^th My Best Friend Chancho escaped from the front door when we got home. As we opened the door to go inside he saw a dog outside and took off after it (I'm sure he thought he was protecting us) and as he ran after that dog a Truck was coming down the street. Chancho got hit by the front tire then got ran over by the back tire. Nothing could explain how I felt the moment I saw him on the street, I couldn't breath thinking my little dude was gone, but then I saw him look up at me and begin to pull himself up, he ran over to me then threw himself on the ground and made a face I could never forget. His face was a face of extreme pain, and yet he only yelped a few times (he's a strong little guy). I'm sure he was in shock, I know I was. I did not know the extent of his injuries. He looked like he could stand but he kept falling over and he was bleeding from somewhere, I wasn't exactly sure, my mind was cloudy, all I knew was I needed to rush him to the hospital. At the hospital they took him to the back, and began treating him with pain medications and took x-rays. The Veterinarian explained the head of his femur bone would not stay in the hip socket and would require a surgery where they would need to drill a hole and insert a wire so that it would no longer slip out. He also had bruised organs and they were extremely worried about his bruised bladder.

After they told me all of this, they gave me a print out of the expected price, again my heart sank, to save Chancho was going to cost me $2,700.....I had $300 to my name as I'm currently trying to get back on my feet, and Chancho has been there by my side through it all, my ups and downs. He has given me 10 yrs of his loyalty and I don't know how I'm going to pay for all this but I wasn't going to give up on him. I had also tried applying for their Care Credit but was denied, so my last option is swallowing my pride and asking the internet universe for help. I came here hoping for help with all of this. Any donation will make a huge difference, and I'm extremely grateful for everyone who took the time to read my (our) story. Will post updates on Chancho's recovery and treatments as we work through this incident.
