My name is Roger Thompson, and I am launching this campaign for a friend who has a rare autoimmune disease. Please read her story and consider making a donation to help pay for her treatment. Thanks.

Almost 12 years ago I had a bad fall hitting both my tail bone and back of my head. I immediately went to the hospital, waited five hours and didn't get seen. By that time my headache had subsided and I just assumed I was fine, especially when I woke up the next day and had no pain (which I found out much too late, was actually an ominous sign). Two months after this physical trauma, I suffered an emotional trauma, and as a result, lost all saliva production for almost two days. It was two weeks after this event that I started noticing odd changes to my skin. Basically, from that point on which would have been around April of 2010, I literally watched the skin all over my entire body from head to toe, take on a different appearance. I started losing elasticity, skin was becoming very thin in certain places, my subcutaneous layer was literally disintegrating. I started losing sudden muscle mass all over my body, and despite all my efforts to regain what I had lost, nothing worked.

My family doctor didn't take me seriously from day one. She attributed all these changes to "age", even though at the time, I was only 41. Even if it had been about aging, enough therapists have told me that this is not what aging looks like.

Then began the long road of seeing specialists and trying every kind of doctor on the planet that you can possibly think of that was available around here at the time. I saw three dermatologists and a geneticist, not because I thought they would have the answers, but because that's who my doctor referred me to. Much later, I was asked why my doctor had not referred me to a neurologist considering my fall involved a huge blow to the head, and shattering my central nervous system.

Everything on paper looks great but my body tells an entirely different story. I have had enough therapists now to confirm that there is definitely something going on that is being missed by conventional medicine. The only actual medical doctor who has taken me seriously, was someone named Dr. Elizabeth Gold and she believes I have a hidden autoimmune condition that is attacking my body's tissues. Bloodwork is not enough to pick up on everything going on in the body. And from what I understand, there is advanced testing done in different parts of Europe involving extensive testing of mitochondrial function and ATP production. I have been told that this testing, in mostly all cases, will locate the root of the problem that cannot be detected through conventional means, and chances of reversal are high.

Also, because of this type of fall, it has altered my spine which then affected everything else in my body in terms of alignment. Everything sits differently and because of that, my hips, knees and feet suffer greatly. Chiropractic and physiotherapy have helped enormously but I am no longer able to afford these treatments.

It hurts to walk because I have lost all the fat pads in my feet, as well as the tissue that used to surround my ankles. My wrists and fingers ache because of joint problems that arose from the acute stress

I continue to suffer from bouts of depression and anxiety over this ongoing situation. I have exhausted all my savings on treatments, supplements and doctors over the last 11 years. The farthest I have gone is Toronto to see a homeopathic doctor from Russia. It sounded like he knew what may have been going on but his remedies didn't work.

I would be eternally grateful for any funding for what seems to be an impending and dire situation, as all my symptoms persist and continue to progress.
Thank you in advance to anyone who has taken the time to read my story.
