My name is Anawil Yuktanand from Thailand. I have the opportunity to volunteer abroad in Livingstone, Zambia with the organization called International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ) for 6 weeks, from the 3rd of June until the 13th of July 2019. I will be doing the Construction and Renovation project to develop better facilities for the community, such as schools, community centers, and toilets. The tasks may involve painting, gardening, building, and other general maintenance, which I will be working alongside the experts and other volunteers.
IVHQ is an ethical volunteering organization that focuses on responsible volunteering and prioritize community needs. More than 100,000 people have volunteered with IVHQ since 2007. Although the program is quite affordable, there are other extra costs, such as airfare, travel insurance, vaccinations, and visa. However, all donations from this page will go towards the program fee of $1114 which will support my volunteer experience. So any donations are highly appreciated!
Apart from helping the communities that are in need, volunteering abroad also provides the opportunity to widen my world by immersing myself in a new culture and people from all backgrounds. Therefore, I will be able to gain skills and knowledge in many different aspects from others and adapt to help other communities in the future.
I have chosen Africa as I have been there last year and found the place to be very captivating and exciting. Therefore, I would like to go back, this time to hopefully contribute to make a difference and learn more about their culture, as well as to correct the misconceptions that some people have towards Africa.
