My name is Rosalina, I am an Indonesian dentist from UGM and was recently graduated from KU Leuven Belgium as Master of Science in Forensic Odontology. My interest in forensic came up as I volunteer in some disaster event in Indonesia. It is undeniable that geographically Indonesia lies between three giant tectonic plate of Eurasia, Indo-Australian, and Pacific, also above the Ring of Fire area. Maplecroft Disaster Risk Assessment placed Indonesia in the second place to Bangladesh as the country with the most extreme disaster risk (BNPB, 2013).Indonesia has faced the impact of the increasing natural disaster in past few years, the newest ones were tsunami in Lombok and Palu.
By this reason, I continue my study as Forensic Odontologist and my research was
accepted to be presented at American Academy of Forensic Science Meeting
in 2019 at Baltimore USA. Indonesia academics must deal with knowledge and technology competition to maintain the existence in globalization area. Forensic odontology is new science, yet a dynamic field, open to many new research challenges for developing forensic diagnostic tools with maximal use of remnants and information, and increased efficacy for various forensic application.
Therefore, my attendance and presentation at Forensic Science Meeting at Baltimore will be a chance for Indonesia to show up and take part in the innovation and join the world advancement. But, above all it will be a dream come true for me to attend my first international conference at other side of the world, and I am hoping your kind support to make it happen. Thank you for your time.
