My Family Home Project

Welcome, this fundraising page was created to try and help purchase the house that I grew up in which is currently on the market for sale. I am currently doing research on the house to find out more exact information, but I do know that it is over 100 years old and I just love it! I spent my entire childhood in this house and while my parents still currently own it, they need to sell it as they do not live there any more.

I have many plans for the house if I am able to get it, a lot of which I hope to share as I work on them. I love learning new things and am constantly working on and planning different projects for the future. The space this house has available would allow me to setup an area to use for smaller projects where I could create videos of them as I go, construct tutorials for others to learn from and just share some of the more intesting things I try to take on!

Some of the projects I have planned for the house are construction related, basic things like updating the windows and refurbishing the siding, others are more involved like re-doing some of the interior floors and walls, maybe slightly adjusting the roofline. My plan is to either do (I have a small amount of construction/remodeling experience) or at least be involved in (for some of the larger items) all of the projects and document them as they progress on a DIY section of the "My Family Home Project" website that I am in the progress of building.

Others are more technology related, such as alternative energy ideas that can be implemented in a suburban area, Home Automation and Security. Then there are any number of other things that I try my hand at, like a home made arcade machine I am building, different projects involving fiberglassing and more! All of these will be featured as instructional or overview's within the website.

The initial goal in this fundraiser is help raise money for the down payment to purchase the house, anything over that will go into development of the website and the tools, materials and equipment needed to make these projects happen and document them as they progress with videos, how-tos and any other relevant information.

So that is my plan, I have talked with a few folks I know about my desire to get this home and start this site and some of them mentioned that they would be interested in being involved, or helping out with different aspects of getting it all up and keeping it going. One of them directed me to this site and suggested I put this up, so here I am. If you think that you would find the website I'm building with the information I plan on posting to it interesting, or if you know anyone that might, and you feel like lending a helping hand to turn it all in to a reality, your help would be very much appreciated, even if it's just to share this around to spread the word, every little bit helps!

A quick note to close this description out, the house that I grew up and and really want to get is currently on the market, so there is the possibility that someone else will come along and buy it up before I am able to. If that unfortunate event does occur, I am constantly watching real estate listings and watching for similar, preferably older homes. I just mention this to let you know that any funds raised here, even if the house I'm looking at is sold before I can get it, will be used for the same purpose as described on this page, I may just have to adjust some of my ideas to fit a different house if that happens!
