We got our dog as a rescue about 3 years ago. We just took him to the vet yesterday because he had been drinking an excessive amount of water as of late, and in the past few days his coordination was way off. Yesterday i took him out to walk him and he was bumping into everything left and right. I was obviously concerned about his eyesight, so we took him to the vet right away. Turns out that the excessive water drinking was from the onset of diabetes that he apparently recently developed. This is OK because we can treat him with insulin shots, but the worst part is that he developed bad cataracts within like 3 days. Now he bumps into everything and has lost virtually all eyesight. I have been calling places all day, trying to find a place that is reasonably priced that does cataracts surgery. So far, the cheapest I found is 3k and above. I am still a student and live at home and we all love my dog. The rest of my family met me at the vets office yesterday and started crying when they found out. We are hoping to get him surgery so he can see again, but like I said, its about 3k.
