I am Stiffany Lucero from Cubao, Quezon City Philippines. In April 2013, My first baby was born in St. Luke’s Quezon City. She experienced hypoxia during delivery. Her brain was deprived of oxygen resulting to injuries. One of the side effects of the hypoxia is constant seizures. Doctors describe her condition as infantile spasms brought on by hypoxia and Cerebral Palsy. I was told that my daughter was suffering from Idiopathic Seizure Disorder called West Syndrome (Infantile Spasms, IS), a severe and incurable epileptic encephalopathy. The seizures associated with West Syndrome are intractable to treatment and will continue relentlessly to destroy her brain.

We have tried various medications to stop her severe seizures such as phenobarbital, keppra, midazolam, prednisolone- available in our country; MCT Oil, banzel, vigabatrin, clobazam, ketocal -which can be purchase in Canada, india and Hongkong. We have even tried hyperbaric oxygen treatment available in St. Luke’s. I would like to mention the fact that not all medicines we have tried are successful to treat her condition and some of her medicines are not available in the Philippines. For the past (5) years we have to maintain compatible drugs that helps to control her seizures. Below is the estimated costs of her medicines and therapy sessions:

From birth until she reached the age 4 she was consistently admitted in the ICU if not under monitoring in the hospital. I and my husband never gave up. Nothing left but faith in God that we can still stand, fight, and continue to face the battle as long as our daughter is fighting to live inspite of her condition .

As a mom, I witness every single pain we’ve gone through to surpass all these trials. I and my husband are physically, emotionally mentally and financially exhausted with the never ending paying of doctors fee, hospital bills, medications etc. Things that only prayers can answer on my daughter’s condition.

I came upon information that we have this kind of support in the Philippines “GoGetFunding”. I am seeking your help to give us hope to stand and fight again for our daughter. We know that it is a lifetime battle for my Zian and our family. A little help to maintain her therapy sessions , treatment and medications for a year while we are still in the process of recovering and paying for the remaining bills and debts will means a lot to us. None that we are aware of who can help us here in the Philippines so we are now turning to those who are kind to help us build our confidence to continue our battle for our daughter.

Thank you in advance and God bless.

Sincerely,

Stiffany Lucero
