At 70 my dad started building me this house from the ground singlehandedly using only a minimum amount of support labor as we could not afford a contractor. Honestly he really did. It took him many years. People would walk past and ask him who is helping him not able to believe he is the sole worker! This was his legacy. To see that all his children have their own homes. Him and mom was going to move in with me and we will use part of the house for rental income. But in 2013 he fell from the upper level and sustained permanent brain damage. Since then very little progress was made as I lost my job (still unemployed) and my father passed away in 2016. He had just turned 80. Uncles and cousins and brothers and sisters all came to help but without finances we made very little progress. The unemployment rate here is staggering and most of my family uses the little they have for basic essentials. Soon after this the neighbors used the Municipality to send me a legal summons to complete the house as the unfinished house is causing a health / security hazard for them. I tried selling it over the last 2 years but no reasonable offers received. Finishing it is also my way to say thank you to the greatest dad that ever lived.
