My Daddy’s Heart (Claro Ganac)

For more than two years now, my Daddy's heart became more special. He needed to take of it more attentively and carefully. We've seen him follow a certain kind of diet, attend natural medicine seminars, slowly change his lifestyle, and trust scientific recommendations.

On 20 May, Carla and he went to Batangas for a summer outing. What seemed to be an ordinary summer day turned to be very memorable to us - on their way home, he had to be rushed at a nearby hospital because of severe chest pain. The doctors confirmed that it was, indeed, a heart attack. Blessed enough, there were good samaritans who drove them back just in time for more cardio tests to be done in Manila.

We stayed for about 10 days at the Philippine Heart Center. Angiogram and other tests were administered to make sure that we, as a family, and the pool of doctors can accurately move forward for his healing. We are now waiting for his heart to be better to sustain the triple bypass surgery. More than the physical implication, we are preparing ourselves in so many ways - psychologically, emotionally, and financially.
