Campaign Story
In June 2017 I went on a life changing volunteering holiday to Cambodia where I met some of the most beautiful people of my life so far. With an amazing group of volunteers we spent 4 days in the sweaty heat of the Cambodian rainy season and through laughter and hard work we built 2 toilets for families in a small village on the outskirts of Siem Reap. There we met an Inspirational man called So Phara who has made it his life mission to improve the lives of the community around him. Teaming up with KIDTEA (http://www.kidtea.org) and the BambooFoundation (https://www.wearebamboo.com) to help with his efforts. He founded a school for the children to learn english (Happiness House) and then going further by helping out the villagers by constructing toilets, water pumps and new houses.
During the 4 days of our project we were met every day with warmth and love from all we encountered, but it was the children who truly touched my soul in a way I could never have imagined. These beautiful children with little to call their own were generous, loving and always wanting to play. They had spirit about them that was infectious and sometimes it was hard to concentrate on the build as you just wanted to spend time with them. Luckily though we had a little gem who would get us back to work if we were slacking for too long! I could go on all day, but I am here for more than to reminisce. This trip changed me and made me want to do something to change their lives for the better, as they had mine. We were there in rainy season and many of the houses were without walls and it was this that made me want to go back and build a house for these deserving people. This is where you come in! I am hoping to raise enough money to build one house when I go back in February 2018 and if we pass our goal we will put the remainder of the money towards another construction project in the village as there is always more work to do. Please give generously but if $5 is all you can afford (just one days coffee after all), that is perfect and thank you.
So lets go!
•If everyone on my Facebook page alone just gives $5 we will reach our target!
