Hello,

Thanks for stopping by to hear about us all 139 of you so far.

If you have been here before you may have noticed a change. The paragraph that was previously here was a result of someone's suggestion. This morning in a wave of clarity I realized there are no explanations or situations more than you see below that is necessary.

Rico was diagnosed very recently. Anyone who truly loves their animal knows it is not just a pet, but a furry child.

This forum takes much networking that I wasn't aware of at the beginning, and not possible for me.

We have enough money for the CT scan on Monday. I PRAY we will need more !! (The alternative would be the tumor metastasized and inoperable)

Any further help is welcomed. This will be an ongoing campaign that I will clarify next Tuesday.

Rico

He was adopted twice and returned twice before finding his forever home with me. He was almost re-named "Boomerang". He stayed at the rescue for a year having the run of several acres with 8 Razorbacks so a lead was long forgotten by the time he came home with me. I felt like I was his kite that he was trying to get airborne. Fast forward 7 years to last month when my entire world turned upside down.

I took him to our Vet to see if he had arthritis and how bad it was. The ex rays showed some arthritis, possible stenosis, but revealed a tumor in the upper lobe of his lung. The oncologist explained it was a slow growing tumor and agreed when I asked him if similar to Thyroid cancer that I was familiar with. On that day, June 17th, it was 63.96 mm wide / 75.02 mm tall (2.51" wide / 2.95" tall). Yesterday July 14th I had a gut feeling so I took Rico to our regular Vet and the ex rays showed 78.06 mm / 82.36 mm (3.07" wide / 3.24" tall). That translates to a 30% growth in that short time.

The CT scan is $1,385 and scheduled for this coming Monday. Tuesday I will meet with the surgery team on Tuesday for the results of the CT scan. The surgery is scheduled for Wednesday morning. This cost including post op will be $5500. Afterwards he will need several rounds of chemo. Because of it's rapid growth, the removal of the tumor through the ribcage may not be feasible. If this turns out to be the situation they may have go through his chest. I am praying that this isn't the case.

Any help would be unimaginably appreciated... from the very bottom of our hearts.
