My American Dream
So, here it is. My American Dream. It's nothing special. The only major things I really want in life is to be debt free and be able to buy my own home. I have no ambitions of becoming the next world superstar or seek fame and fortune. I am already doing the things that make my happy and hopefully will continue to do so for years to come.

I have actually found a house that I really like and I have already put a bid on it. The price is right, but, it will need some work. A condensation line needs fixing that I saw up front. If my offer gets accepted, I will have to wait and see if anything else major comes up. I hope not. Watch the video to see more of the house I want to make a home.

Why is my goal so high?
Well, my total student loan bills are already almost $58,000. My federal student loan limits have maxed out, so, I cannot get any more Federal Education loans. I still have to finish my degree and if I continue at the same school, my out of pocket costs will total almost $18,000. I already have things set it motion to take care of the rest of the tuition money, but, I have to go a different school and transfer those credits so I can graduate. I should have done that at the beginning. You live and you learn, right? The rest of my goal would go towards a down payment on a house. I am almost 38 years old and have never owned my own home. For some people it is quite attainable. For others like me, it's not as easy as you might think. Plus, I feel like my time is limited on this earth. I may only be 37, but both of my parents died before they were 60 due to health complications. A lot of my family on my Father's side have died younger due to health related complications. As much as I am diligent to take care of myself, I have a 70% chance of inheriting some of their illnesses no matter what I do.

If I end up winning the bid of this house, proceeds will help fund the fixing up part of it, i.e. paint, trim for the bedroom, and APPLIANCES! Appliances these days are wicked expensive, even for lower-end ones. Wow!

Do I expect to actually receive any money for this fundraiser?

Absolutely not. I may be a dreamer, but I am a realist at the same time. But, I figured, why not? If Zach Braff can raise almost $2.7 million to fund the cost of making a movie from over 40,000 people (Google Zach Braff - Kickstarter), then just maybe, I might have a chance of getting a $5 donation from 40,000 different people. No offense to Zach Braff or anyone else out there trying to make their dreams come true. This one just happens to be mine. You may scoff or make fun of this posting. I don't care. I'm a simple guy with simple dreams.

What if the goal is actually reached?

I have no expectations that I will even get close to that goal. Seriously. Let's say I actually meet this goal and then some. There is no way I will be able to keep all of that money to myself. I will have to donate a percentage of it to the disaster relief in Oklahoma after the horric tornado, The American Cancer Society, a few local charities in my area and a bunch of projects here on GoGetFunding. If I were to be that blessed, I would have to pay it forward somehow. I would not feel right about it if I didn't.

In fact, if I were to reach the listed goal, I guarantee that at least 50% will go to The American Cancer Society, The Red Cross, AIDS research, and some of the local community charities that I believe in. I will even post donation receipts to prove it was done.

Now what?

If you have read this far, I applaude your patience. And if you feel so inclined, go ahead and donate that $5. If you do, I thank you wholeheartedly from one dreamer to another. If not, then bless you for viewing this post. Either way, feel free to help make this fundraiser as viral as possible. I believe in miracles and the power of blind faith. I hope you do, too. I believe that the United States of America is the greatest country to live in and the citizens are more generous than we might believe. I have donated to some of the other causes on this website because I believe in them. If you believe in this dream, then, I hope you can help me achieve it.

Rewards?

I don't know what I can offer to those who donate except my heart-felt thanks and gratitude. I could always make personal hand-made thank you cards. Perhaps for some of any larger donators, I would do something special. I would definitely make a video of the completed house project. If you have reasonable suggestions, feel free to send them.
