Musical Instruments for RMI

Filipinos claim themselves to be lovers of music. They love to sing, play an instrument, and listen to music. Making music with family, friends, and community for whatever purpose gives us a different sense fulfillment.

The essential charismatic feature of the RMI mission is the PROMOTION and PRESERVATION of young Domestic Workers. It is to preserve the DWs’ integrity, at the same time, protect them from danger and to form them into virtuous citizens, thus, become value driven workers. Preservation according to the RMI is the effort to make the young DWs grow by means of PERSONAL ORIENTATION and VALUE FORMATION through EDUCATIVE METHODS that will EMPOWER their being, their skills and capabilities.

At present, the RMI is carrying out this mission here in Holy Family Social Center in Sampaloc, Manila. Our convent was transformed into a welcoming homes and a center of Formation for the young domestic workers, out of school youth and working students. The DWs who are victims of human trafficking, those who just came from the provinces, those looking for job, the displaced, unemployed or runaways, are welcomed in the temporary shelter. The RMI also offer the DWs the opportunity to continue their basic and secondary education and to develop and acquire skills that will enable them to obtain a qualified job.

During this pandemic, they have turned to music to lighten the challenges they are facing. Through the support of a music school near their community, they are taught how to play our traditional Rondalla. At this point, we are knocking at your generous heart to support this community to be able to buy a complete set of Rondalla- 8 bandurria, 4 octavina, 2 guitars, and set of bandurria and octavina strings.

The music they will make will turn their sadness into joys, their tears into smiles, and their hopes into realities. Thank so much for your support.
