I started playing the flute on a whim just over four years ago at my school. After progressing to grade 7 music in that time, I discovered that I had developed a huge passion for my instrument and music in general. Last year (in the middle of my grade 10 year at high school) I decided that I wanted to study further at a university and have been thinking of ways to pay the fees since then.

As I come from a low income family that has already sacrificed large amounts of money to buy me my instrument and put me through private lessons, I cannot afford the tuition and living fees alone. I come from South Africa where the arts are underfunded and under appreciated. As a result, the few scholarships that are available are very exclusive, small and extremely hard to obtain. Nevertheless, I am going to try to win myself one, but this gofundme campaign would be used to supplement or replace the scholarship funds. My hope is to reach a fairly substantial portion of my goal by the time I need to apply early next year.

Thank you for reading my story. Any donation of any size would help, and I would be infinitely appreciative.
