Music has been a huge part of my life and so are many of my students; no matter young or old. Music is our Soul.
I have been teaching for almost 8 years around the world and have found joy in helping people to learn more than just playing an instrument.
The statistic has also shown that learning to play an instrument is beneficial not only academically but emotionally, develops critical thinking and self-discipline.
In addition to these skills, students who are involved in a music program have higher self-esteem, higher SAT scores, a greater sense of teamwork, better school attendance, and are more attentive.
Yet, we are far from a celebration. There is a lot of work to be done in our schools, and our society, before all schools are really in a position to provide music to students.
Too many music schools at this time and age do not encourage creativity. It is mostly on a high level of doing what the rest of the classical music world does, making music the way your teachers, your chamber music coaches, and the conductors you play for, expect it to be made.
No two people — and certainly no two great musicians — recreate scores the same way.
We and many others have argued strongly that governments need to go beyond rhetorical support. The changes required are both structural, and cultural.
We first need to attribute value to music that is comparable to curriculum leviathans like maths and English. Secondly, this needs to demonstrate through education policy structures that place music within the core of the educational experience, rather than an added extra.
I am here in hopes to bring more music to everyone and anyone. No matter if you are rich or poor, young or old, anyone willing to learn; not just music; but a way to live their own life the way they want to.
That is what music is about.
I am very grateful to all contributions to my fundraiser, as this money is going to enable me to help the student and anyone interested to learn music even more than I am currently able to. All donations will go towards my program fee and towards school supplies for the students, I will be teaching. This is something I have only dreamed about since I was young and I am so grateful to be given this opportunity. Thank you for your help!
Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated and we hope to keep the community going.
