Music Can Heal

My name is Jacob Selengia and I want to start a charity organisation called We Can with a tag line "Music Can Heal". I'm a former international insurance broker turned entertainment professional, I used to DJ and manage events for various brands in Tanzania; and now I mainly do consulting in the entertainment/music industry.

I have always felt that there was a deeper purpose for my love of music and it's always been that I felt I was supposed to make people happy through music and hence I quit my 9 to 5 do and started Djing full time. While Djing I always wanted to make an impact on the next generation and helped many aspiring young DJs break through the ranks and enter the music industry in Tanzania. Of late that's not been enough and one day it clicked, what I was missing. While watching teaching my daughter the basics of Djing and seeing the smile and joy on her face, I realized the power within music, and I felt that I had to share it with more children.

This is when We Can was born. I am looking to raise money to start this charity organisation that will look to take street children and disadvantaged children from their dark world and shine a light of hope and blessings onto them. The aim of the organisation is to teach these children Djing and music production skills which in turn we will instill life skills. I have a team of industry professionals who are all ready to start this journey with me and together we want to give these children a fighting chance in life and teach them skills which they can take forward in their life as well as get full time employment for those that excel in the program.

The main use of the funds will go towards registering the charity and all legal fees, the required equipment, premises, utility payments for 6 months and support staff as well as food and clothing for the children that desperately need them.

I want We Can to show people that no matter a persons situation, with the right support and encouragement they can achieve the impossible, also that there are so many talented people but due to there situations they never realise their true potentials and talents.
