My mum is 66y old with underlying medical issues, i recenly took her to a pvt hosp instead of the gov hosp since gov hosp were focus on covid cases. She got admitted for very low hemoglobin, iron and high ESR. Endoscopy was done, found erosion on the stomach. Scope was also done on the colon, found a bleeding ulcer which was the cause of low hemoglobin. She was immediately given 4 pints of blood and some meds to stop the bleeding. but the surgeon said surgery was needed to stop bleeding and also to remove the wound as it was abnormal cells and leaving it would be high risk. The surgeon offered to refer to gov hosp but advised it could be very long since GH would run their own tests and surgeries are only priortized for covid related or other urgent/critical issues. Since mum was getting weak because of the internal bleeding, we had no choice to proceed with the surgery. Last Friday the surgery was done, it was close to 6 hours and she was in ICU. The surgery was to remove the colon section where the bleeding was, the colon was then reattached. But since the wound is still fresh and needs time to recover, a temp colostomy was done. She needs to return in a month another procedure to remove the colostomy and some tests to see if the organs are functioning well. Initially the surgeon estimated the cost at RM20,000 (approx USD 4500) but the surgery was apparently complex and longer (6hours) due to mum having hysterectomy about 20 years ago. There were scarring and the surgeon needed to clear the area before he could work on the colon. As of 24th, the hosp mentioned the bill was at RM26,500 and she is still warded (as i write this now) since she hasn't regained her mobility. She was sedated earlier today for a procedure to remove the blood/urinary tubes and awaiting for the last tube to be removed to try walking. For the 2nd procedure (in 1 month), the surgeon advised it could reach RM8,000 (approx USD 1800).

The reason i started this fund was to seek financial help as my mum is a housewife and doesnt have insurance. My brother and myself are providing for the family with our wives as homemakers. Both wives are managing the household with a baby each, 1 year old and 6m respectively. Earlier this year in Jan, mum had chest pain and angiogram was done due to artery block. The cost was almost RM6,000 (approx USD1300). And the scope procedures 2 weeks ago came to approx RM11,600 (USD2600). As we dont have much savings, angiogram and scope procedure payments were made using credit cards which we will be paying till completion. What we would need now is some cash assistance on the latest surgery and the one scheduled in a month time, both could reach up to RM38,000 (USD8700) since its a complex and many have many tests.

ALl in the family would appreciate any generosity and we would be very grateful for the help. thank you very much in advance.
