Thanks for taking the time to look at my page.

Hey Guys,

Well, the idea is really simple here: A good friend of mine, here in Brazil, needs urgent help!

It´s a mother of two children and she gave me the authorization to speak for her here based on her weak English skills and the fact that she doesn't know how to use the internet.

She has a few problems and she is in a really uncomfortable situation at the moment. Due to the urgency, I didn't plan this here and just wrote it down quickly, in the hope of a quick response.

It is about creating her temporary financial independence.

I'm not good at explaining things at all. So I said to her: "Write a letter and I will take care of the rest."

Here it comes:

Hey folks!

I´m Karine Ruivo Amaral, I´m 35 years old, mother of two children, Ryan and Roberta, 8 and 6 respectively.

At this moment, we're going through a delicate situation in our lives because I've been separated for six months, living in a rented in a modest home of a bedroom, a small kitchen and a bathroom in São Sebastião/DF, Brazil ( a poor neighborhood in my city). My children study in public school in Brasília which isn't near our home. My biggest difficulty is to get a job or internship that matches the class schedule of my children, considering the fact that my responsibility is to take them to school and pick them up later. Unfortunately, asking the father for help has been quite difficult after his dismissal from his job.

Currently I´m studying Human Resources Management in a partial scholarship at the University JK in Brasília, with a little help from my mother who lives in Curuçá/PA, far away from here.

Our routine basically is: leaving home to drop the kids off in school at lunchtime and then going back home. Later on, I pick them up at school and go to the University at night. There I have to let the kids go to the library or computer lab, so they can hang around there until my classes are over. During recess, we go to a snack bar near the University and we have dinner, actually it's just a simple meal. After classes we go home, which can be really exhausting, and risky as well because we go home very late at about 11:30 pm.

However, I look further and try to see the good side of my life. I value my studies and try to overcome the obstacles in my way in order to achieve my goals. In the meantime, we believe in the help of people who seek to help others and can contribute to the happiness of a little family in desperate need. We don't need love, affection, faith or companionship because these values are not missing. We do need financial help so that we can go on with our lives and be more independent.

After all, my focus is to join a Post-Graduation course in 2017 and continue my studies in order to have better qualifications and guarantee the future of my kids.

THE END

I have to add that she had an internship from which she got fired because she couldn’t manage to pick her kids up from school and work at the same time.

The reason I have set up this campaign is to raise funds to afford her some financial independence for at least one year. That´s the time she needs. There are two to three semesters to go. I’ve known her for one year and a half. I know that she doesn't have the means to support herself and her kids. She’s been through many obstacles, she suffered a lot doing everything all alone: feed them, study, make sure that they study, living every month on a limited budget. It’s hard living like this. Last year she asked me for money, I helped her. This year she asked me for more again. And then I started to think about a better option, creating a fundraiser!

I asked her about her monthly expenses and she did the math. With all her expenses like food, bus ticket for three people, clothes (mostly for the kids), medication, school materials, rent and everything else she needs. She calculated an amount of 1.000 R$, which is around 260 Euros. Multiplied by 12 = 3.120 Euros a year. That´s not much for a mother with two kids. So you can imagine their lifestyle. But this is what came out.

In my math, I added an extra of 500 R$ to ensure that she can get a health insurance for her and her children, which I think is very important, especially here in Brazil. Then I multiplied the monthly amount she needs by 12 and the sum is: 18.000 R$ or 4.600 Euros

If I could give her just half this money, I would be really glad. But I can´t afford this on my own, I need your help.

She told me that she wants to take a Master’s degree after her post graduation course. I admire her effort of striving for success. She is strong and willing and imagine what she can accomplish with your little but significant help.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. If you decide to donate to this campaign you would be making a big impact on keeping a mum of two kids more independent.
