Mum In Need

Hi My name is kirsty, I am 33 with a husband and 3 children. I am a personal carer.

The reason for my plight to fundraise is because of my dear mum.

She is 57 years old and has been unlucky to have lived a life of physical and sexual abuse by her partners one of them my father who commited suicide 8 years ago and sexual abuse by her father. She raised 4 kids on her own and was a very healthy happy women 13 years ago who loved life would hang out with me and love to be outdoors  when i took her to the hospital as her fingers in one hand started to turn blue and be very painful. She was given an epidural in her spine to admister medication when an abscess formed and she contracted golden staph and had emergency operation to remove the disc at the site of the operation.

Fast forward to today and she is on prescribed opiates and suffers chronic disabling pain 24 hours a day as since the golden staph she has now arthiritis all through her body and degennerative disk disease. She now uses a walking frame and mobility scooter to get from A to B which is not very far as shes usually in too much pain to scooter down to the local milk bar for milk. She lives in a block of units in public housing of 35 other units and in which is not suitable for her as she was told she will most probably need a wheelchair in the near future as her legs are very weak and painful and she can not walk far. Her unit is not suitable for a wheelchair and is even a hike for her to reach her letterbox. Because she is disabled and lives 45 min away from me ( my brothers and sister live interstate) and im so busy with work study and raising the kids she is isolated and doesnt get out or meet anyone. She is often depressed and doesnt see things will get any better for her. I would love for her to have her own little piece of paradise to call her own and buy her a little home in an over 55s villiage near my home so i can visit her more often and it will be suited for her needs eg wheelchair access and people around her to chat with. They start of at around $170,000. I know its a long shot but its worth the try.
