Mugo’s Surgery Fund

Mugo is a female stray dog that we've been feeding since a year ago. She roams around our neighborhood and she will drop by our house every day for her breakfast and dinner. We've been wanting to trap her for spaying but she's stubborn and she will never let anyone touches her. Due to her old age (around 8-9 years old) and as a stray, we were worried that she might not make it through the anesthesia and surgery procedures too.

Yesterday (19/3/18), she collapsed opposite our house and was crying in pain. My mum who was alone at home tried to move her into our house with the help of a Samaritan and waited for my sister who rushed back home from work, and sent Mugo to the vet. She would never let anyone touches her. But this time, it seems like she was asking for help. And we are probably the only humans she trusts.

Mugo is diagnosed with pyometra. What is even worse, her pus-filled uterus is ruptured, and infection has spilled into the abdominal cavity. Vet said she has 50/50 chance of survival due to its old age and severe peritonitis. We were informed that her medical bill might costs us with a minimum amount of MYR 2,000. However, we want to try our best and agreed to save her – an emergency surgery was carried out in no time.

Thankfully, Mugo is strong enough and she is awake today (20/3/18). However, second surgery is most probably needed to check on her abdominal cavity again. We hope that she will keep staying strong.

Mugo didn’t choose to become a stray, no animals would choose this life of hardship if they are given a choice, but as a mankind, we should all remember every life is just as precious as the next.
