Ms. Certified Medical Assistant to be!

My goal a year ago was to complete a Medical Assisting Course and obtain a State Certification. I have completed the course, which was a challenge and I have just completed and passed the final for my last class with 96%. It is almost time for my externship and I know that having my certification before I attend my on the job training would give me an advantage over those who are not certified. My main goal is to have certification before I begin searching and applying for Medical Assisting positions.

 To obtain Certification as a Medical Assistant I must take and pass the State examination for Medical Assisting.  In addition, I am a licensed Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1. Renewing my license is another goal. To renew my license I must complete 6 units of continuing education. My license expires November 11, 2012. With both certifications I will be more hireable.

The reason it is so hard for me to pay for these endeavors is because I am a single mother of 3 wonderful children and we are living on a limited low income. I would love to provide my children with a more decent life style than I had as a child. While providing a decent and stable life style for my family, I also want to be of some kind of assistance to the community.  This is just one of the things that I would like to do to help the community and myself. Converting poverty to prosperity has always been one of my motivations and obtaing a profession in the Healthcare field is just one way to breaking the cycle.
