Maisie Welsh is an 11 year old girl who has had a terrible and life changing accident on a horse. She has undergone facial reconstruction and lost sight in one eye. Please Google her name.
Just days before the accident I saw her play football with my daughter in their team; things can change for any of us very quickly.
Everything has changed for her and her family and support is needed in so many ways. Maisie is fully aware of the extent of her injuries and with a huge amount of help is slowly coming to terms with them. Maisie is a fighter but she still has to undergo so much throughout the rest of her life, this, of course, takes its toll. The money is needed for Maisie and her family, she is missing out on education, her parents have been forced to stop working. I am asking friends, family and the wider community to help, even just a small amount; everything will go to show that we have her and her families back.
The challenge - What do you get for your money.
I have faced a few challenges in my 29 years in the Army to date but this will be up there with the toughest. Over the 25 and 26 Feb 17 I will be going up and down Roseberry Topping in N Yorkshire for 24 hours virtually non-stop. My maximum rest will be 15 minutes between attempts if absolutely needed.
Rosberry topping is 1049 ft above sea level, from the gate at the road to the summit is 567 ft over steep rocky and root strewn terrain. I aim to get up and down over 30 times; a minimum of 56 miles and 17,010 feet of climb plus 17,010 ft of descent, higher than Everest summit from base camp (11,377ft).
I spend a lot of time training but not like this, it will be a physical and mentally very challenging. Training is going very well and I believe I have found the correct pace for day and night, the next mile stone is 15 times up and down to guage a time which I believe will be iro 12 - 12 hours.
Please could you donate in any way you can.
Many many thanks for your support, it is very much appreciated.
