Trust in the Lord, be strong and courageous - yes, put your hope in the Lord! (Psalm27:14)

Hi I'm Jolie Angala, a 27 year-old CANCER FIGHTER. And the sole breadwinner of the family since my father passed away in 2010. I'm the eldest of 4 siblings. I previously worked as a Medical Secretary in St Lukes Global City. Now, I'm with my mom and my 2 younger siblings; aged 13 and 14. My mom quit her job as a manicurist to focus on me. They have been taking care of me since i was diagnosed.
CANCER. I never imagined that one little word could change the lives of my entire family and myself. It is almost like an automatic death sentence. The word CANCER strikes deep down to the bone. Most of the time, I feel like Iβm stuck in this endless loop of the same nightmare, and everyday I keep hoping I wake up from this bad dream.ππ’π
Last August 28, 2017, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a type of cancer that develops large numbers of immature lymphocytes (white blood cells). It progresses rapidly and is typically fatal if left untreated. So, we decided to take Chemotherapy as the initial treatment. I started with my Induction Chemotherapy last September 13, 2017- October 13, 2017 at Philippine General Hospital (PGH). This treatment rapidly kills tumor cells and reduce leukemic blasts in the bone marrow. So, as I underwent Bone Marrow Aspiration (BMA), to monitor the progress of the abnormal cells and check the percentage of the leukemic cells, luckily, the doctor said that I'm in remission. That's why, I proceeded with the second phase of chemotherapy treatment--- post-remission chemotherapy. It is advisable once the leukemia is in remission. It uses high doses of chemotherapy to kill any remaining leukemic cells that may not be active but could begin to regrow and cause a relapse.
As of now, I am almost done with my 4th cycle which is the Delayed Intensification Chemotherapy. I am responding well to the treatment. However, I often experience the side effects and complications of the Chemotherapy like venous thrombosis. So, I was advised to undergo again BMA or biopsy on April 27, 2018. If found that I am still in remission, I will proceed to the third phase of chemotherapy, the Maintenance Chemotherapy. This will kill any remaining leukemic cells that may cause a relapse if not eradicated. The length of this treatment is 2-3years; total of 6-8cycles (each cycle-12weeks).
Despite the good progress in my treatment, I am still fighting against this life-changing ordeal. The other resort to possibly cure me, is a Bone Marrow Transplant or a Stem Cell Transplant. Bone marrow transplant in the Philippines will cost us 3-4 million pesos ($60,000-$80,000 USD). Meantime, I will have to continue with my Consolidation Chemotherapy cycle until we can provide enough money for the procedure.
With this, together with my friends and family, we would want to sincerely knock on your kind hearts to help us raise funds for my continuous chemotherapy or as a preparation for a possible Bone Marrow Transplant or a Stem Cell Transplant.
Any amount or any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. Your monetary donations will be a great help to finance and complete my treatment; your powerful prayers as well will be much appreciated. Please include me in your everyday prayers.
In this fight, I know, I am not alone. I am with the Almighty God. I courageously and faithfully stand against this life-changing cross.
May He also continue bless your kind hearts. Your generosity will help me fight against CANCER.
THANK YOU in advance!
