Born in the small mountain village of Marangu on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Dennis has long dreamed of becoming an accredited guide on the great mountain. One of six children, Dennis draws his inspiration from his father, a venerable and experienced Kilimanjaro guide, who instilled in him the values of unfailing integrity, a solid work ethic and impeccable professionalism.
Filled with boundless optimism and charismatic appeal, Dennis is a natural born leader. He is wildly popular with the children of his village, thanks to the countless hours he spends volunteering with them. A self-taught musician, he plays guitar and sings in the local Church choir. He is a determined and hardworking individual who has climbed Kilimanjaro more than 40 times as a porter.
As anyone who has successfully summited Kilimanjaro can tell you, the secret to completing the grueling climb and making it to the top is a strong and positive mindset. The Tanzanian guides are renowned for their inexhaustible enthusiasm and affirming energy. Even as a porter Dennis, provides great encouragement to Killi climbers to never give up and keep going towards the summit. But he dreams of becoming a guide where he will be able to be lead the way for people from all around the world to reach the mountain's peak on the rooftop of Africa.
In order to make the transition from porter to guide, Dennis needs to complete his education. He has already been accepted to the TCI Institute of Tourism and Business Management Studies, in Tanzania. Dennis is highly motivated, but he and his family lack the financial resources to meet the tuition costs.
Together we can change the life of this exceptional young man.
Please join us and help Dennis break the cycle of poverty and achieve his dreams.
