WHO WE ARE:

We are six friends from Larnaca: Konstantina, Yianna, Yiolanda, Louis, Andreas and Konstantinos, that have always enjoyed each other’s company while hiking Cyprus’ mountainsides.

WHAT ARE WE DOING:

We are planning a charity fundraiser with the aim of climbing the tallest mountain in Greece, Olympus at 25 - 26 of May 2019! The peak of the mountain is called “Mytikas” and that’s where we aim to be, at 2,918m altitude.

The assent to the top entails many difficulties, amongst others coming face to face with increasing oxygen depletion, battling with snow, as well as a two – day hike. We have already started training to ensure we have adequate stamina and strength needed for the hike. Throughout this journey, we will be keeping you posted of our progress via social media.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS:

Our aim is to raise money and donate these to “Multiple Sclerosis Association of Larnaca”. The target of this charity campaign which will continue until 01^st of June 2019, is to raise €1,500 within a month.

HOW WE CAME UP WITH THE IDEA:

After a personal health challenge that Konstantina went through in 2017, she decided along with her eldest sister Chloe and a friend, Despo, to plan a charity fundraiser titled “Running for their Wishes 2018”, in which they participated in “Tough Mudder” (a half marathon through mud and 20+ obstacles) with the aim of raising £1,000 within a month and donating these to the Association of “One Dream, One Wish”. The campaign was very successful and ended up almost tripling the amount to £2,860!

Our aim is to continue this journey of fundraising for many more years to come. Our promise is that each year, each campaign will be devoted to people in need who face various health issues.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US:

You can donate, either anonymously or not, at this page helping us to reach our goal in supporting the Association. We understand that each person’s financial abilities are different, therefore if you would like to support us but cannot do so financially, please help us instead to share this page with your friends and families so that more people can know of our campaign.

WHAT IS “MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS ASSOCIATION OF LARNACA”:

“Multiple Sclerosis Association of Larnaca” founded in 1998 with the primary purpose to help people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. The Association is a non-profit organization based in Larnaca District.

Since 2000, the Association has acquired its own premises exclusively equipped by donations of friends of the Association. At the premises, there are specially designed areas for all the programs run to help the patients. One of the ambitious and long-term goals of the Association is the acquisition of a private home with the hope this becomes a safe haven for the patients when needed.

The programs run to help the patients are the following:

• Physiotherapy
• Home care
• Aromatherapy
• Psychological Support to patients and their families
• Social service

WHAT IS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS:

Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body, rendering even day-to-day activities extremely difficult to perform. Thousands of people suffer from Multiple Sclerosis worldwide, and in Cyprus it is estimated that it impacts around 1,200-1,300 people. Since the onset of the disease, its spreading is manifested with periods of recession and exacerbation as its relapses are usually unpredictable and with no warning. The origins of the disease still remain unknown, therefore treating this to full recovery is still impossible.
