Support young Singaporean filmmakers on an upcoming film “Mosquito”

WE ARE

Hi! We are a group of final year film students from the School of Art, Design and Media, NTU and we are working on our thesis film - Mosquito.

This film mixes the genres of family drama and horror, and we'll be using prosthetics and visual effects to bring out the visuals. It's gonna be exciting!! However, for all that to be possible we are going to need some help in the funds department!

SYNOPSIS

The film revolves around a family unit who uphold typical Asian values such as filial piety, a theme that most Singaporean families will resonate with strongly. Jared, the only son of his doting parents, is under pressure to keep up with their expectations of supporting them financially when he brings home his first paycheck. The narrative takes an unconventional and unexpected turn when his parents demands increase, to the extent of them stealing money from him. As they continue to take, they start to morph into another species - mosquitoes.

This film will require an extensive use of prosthetics and costume-making for the special effects. We plan to purchase foam latex prosthetics to create body extensions, such as the mosquito antennae. Silicone and special adhesives will be used to produce other mosquito features such as the fine hairs, hunched back and insectoid eyes. VFX techniques will be used as well for touching up shots and creating a swarm of mosquitoes in the air.
