In South Africa, a bottle of glue to sniff is cheaper than a pair of shinpads. A bottle of extra strength 'homebrew' is even cheaper.

When there are no jobs often people turn to crime, and when they need an escape from reality often they turn to substance abuse, as can be seen on such large scale in Cape Town's glue epidemic, but through football Morning Stars FC are offering an alternative as they look to improve the community in Eastern Cape's poorest neighbourhoods.

Operating across several age groups and making their presence known through the province they are improving so many lives, but to provide kit, equipment, footballs for all these young vulnerable people has a cost, as do league fees and pitch rental.

Morning Stars FC are looking to open up the community project to more people next year as they continue to provide a free way into football and continue to influence people in the right way, but they need help, they are fighting against the tide and cultural norms when it is so easy for these young people to get sucked into going the wrong way with their lives.
The men's side are up running through some very generous help and we have fortunately already managed to arrange for some kits for the U16's, which is great, but there is still a lot to pay for across most of the age groups.

Donations of any size are welcome, shinpads can be purchased for as little as £2, boots can cost £20-£30, but anything is greatly greatly appreciated and each donation can help to get one more person on board and change their life.

Whilst most of the world is not as poor as Eastern Cape we understand not everyone has money spare, so even a social media share or email forwarding can help.
