Morgans summer school Fundraiser

1. Can you help?

Hi I'm Morgan, a 16 year old college student from Glossop, UK. I have been studying German for the past 4 years and recently i have been offered an amazing opportunity which will allow me to utilize and expand upon it, however i am struggling to fund it.

What is the summer school?

The summer school takes place on the North coast of Germany in the university town of Greifswald between the 2nd and the 30th of July. The summer school is ran by professors from top universities in the USA who specialise in the subjects that the summer school runs. During the 4 weeks I will learn German and international relationships and politics with recreational activities such as windsurfing and sailing.

What is included in the cost of the summer school?

• chaperoned transfers to and from Berlin-Tegel airport
• housing
• a rental bicycle
• breakfast and dinner daily
• tuition for courses (conversational German and one academic course)
• all afternoon courses (digital media/photography, sailing, tennis)
• all planned extracurricular activities (boat trips, bowling, beach volleyball, beach trips, excursions, concerts, lectures, parties)
• 3-day Berlin excursion
• 2.5-day College Prep Workshop with Educational Consultant Janet Stark

How much will the summer school cost?

The total price of this summer school is £5530, however i have been offered a founders scholarship which gives me 75% off the price. This leaves me with around £1400 left to raise for tuition fees and the deposit.

I am asking to raise £1600 in total by the 6th may 2016. This is for the above costs plus flights to and from Tegel airport and equipment hire. I am extremely grateful for the money that has been raised so far, it is really touching, how generous people are.

How will this benefit me?

The environment alone is a perfect environment to learn in as I will be immersed in German for the entire 4 weeks. On top of this being an amazing experience in itself, I believe that this will be an amazing thing to put on my UCAS application for university as only 50 students a year get this oppertunity.

How will your donation help?

Your donation will be a huge amount of help. The money will be used for anything such as booking flights from Manchester to Berlin to getting the equipment that is needed for the recreational activities. Each donation, even a few pounds is huge.

Any donors will be invited to a presentation that I will organise shortly after the trip to thank everyone who donated and to share the full experience. I will post several Facebook posts in the various Glossop groups to let people know more about this closer to the time.

While I am in Germany, I will also do a daily Vlog so people can see what I did on a day to day basis :)
