Morgan Volunteers in Ghana Orphanage

For the whole month of July 2017 I'll fly out to Accra, Ghana and travel to the deprived area of Kumasi, where I will live and volunteer at a Children's Orphanage.

In this time I will have the amazing opportunity to contribute to the individual care, learning, life experiences as well as enhancing the overall lives of the children there who have become orphaned for numerous unfortunate circumstances such as death of parents, abandonment due to disability, poverty, and many others.

The cost of the trip has been over £2000 which I have worked hard to save and paid for my self over the past year.

However, the children's home ill be working in is under resourced, due to a lack of funding, so I'm raising an additional fund (which I ran the Manchester 10K for) to contribute to the children's basic living needs - The more money I raise, the bigger the impact I can make with the possibility of contributing towards anything from self-cleaning products to activities (i.e. a day of sports where equipment is needed) to more permanent impacts like developing the building they live in to medical treatments.

I have been instructed to raise money as apposed to collecting the above items that I can in the UK due to the fact that:

This gives me the chance to see first hand what the greatest priorities are at the facility when I arrive; It will be more efficient to purchase these items in Kumasi; And finally, spending money in Kumasi will put money into the local developing community, and there for in turn help a greater number of people there.
