More Diversity in British Journalism

Hi, 

My name is Jay and I am trying to raise money to fund a Multimedia Journalism course for which I have been offered a place, to start in September 2014.

Journalism is a career that I am passionate about and not least because of the circumstances I have found myself in throughout my life - from having a disability, being made homeless through repossession, a family break-up and a life-threatening illness. Far from stunting my progression, these circumstances have pushed me to be ambitious and strive for equality among those from all walks of life with a variety of experiences to match.

The issue of misrepresentation and misunderstanding of those with disabilities is of particular importance to me. A career where I can draw on my own experiences and offer a voice to those unable to represent themselves would be a dream come true.

The qualification gained from this course will be the first step in making that happen and I would be so grateful for any contribution, large or small, made.
