Hello family, friends, fellow patriots, internet funding community and all those with a big heart and intolerance of injustice of all ugly shapes and sizes. I'm currently in the US NAVY but will be separating on or before April 28, 2015. 

I need to move with my wife back to our home in Iowa. I am told I will be getting what the military calls Advanced Travel Pay (ATP), but it will not come until sometime after I separate. Essentially we will have all our personal property in the car with us awaiting the deposit. We will be just short of homeless and hungry as we cannot get the travel pay or my final pay deposit till on or after the beginning of May.

I am being involuntarily separated and had been placed on a legal hold and receiving reduced pay for several months prior to my separation which has exhausted ALL of our collective savings. The NAVY has typically been good to us and are known for taking care of their own, it's unfortunate how quickly those who are supposed to be looking out for you seem to distance themselves from you when you find yourself in a lil trouble. Its disheartening how you are so easily branded with the scarlet letter and left on your own to crash and burn and go down like a sinking ship anytime there is any disciplinary action in your service.

My wife has complicated health issues and has been out of work since late November of 2015. Her condition also prohibits her from driving which will extend our trip a day longer than we had anticipated as we cannot share time on the road.

I hate to ask people I don't know for money but I don't know where else to turn since my family is unable to help. This egregious fate comes at a very unexpected and inopportune time. We have been exhausting the resources of all our kindhearted Californian neighbors and more than generous shipmates for some time now and I am essentially at my worse state of desperation and anything at this point will help greatly.

Our guesstimate of expenses are broken down as follows.

 

Gas

2100 miles / 22 mpg = 95 gallons. 95 gallons X 3.25 < $315

Miscellaneous auto expenses ( oil / coolant / fix-a-flat / etc ) = $ 50

I'm hoping to get at least 600 + miles in a day on the road if possible. Depending on my wife’s condition during the trip. I'm anticipating the trip to take no more than 5 days, but I'm prepared for a few extra days depending on what we may encounter.

Food

B = Breakfast = $ 0 (Continental Breakfast included)

L = Lunch 4 ( or longer) days on the road x $20 = $80

D = Dinner 4 ( or longer) days on the road x $30 = $120

Road Water / Snacks 4 ( or longer) days on the road x $10 = $40

Total = $80 + $120 + $40 = $ 200

Lodging

Super 8 San Diego Hotel Circle San Diego, CA $50

Stratosphere Las Vegas, NV $60

Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites Midvalley Murray, UT $81

Best Western Frontier Inn Cheyenne, WY $94

Days Inn and Suites Lincoln, NE $65

Total = $350 x tax @ 7% (avg) = $24 or approximately = $375

Due at Move out

2 window screens @ $15 each + $70 for pet carpet cleaning = $100

This is not an all exclusive list, but I tried to include everything that I can think that we would encounter on the road along the way.
