How does the adventure of your lifetime look like? Where is it? Where are you? Where did you get lost? Are you sure you're going in the right direction? Do you know when you're gonna get there?
We're Rusty, Oana and Florina and we're on our way to the adventure of our lifetimes. Of all the questions we asked above, we only know the answer to one: we want to go to Mongolia! We know one more thing, and that's that we want to get there this summer and that what's driving us is the desire of adventure and the pull of the unknown. Basically, we're signing up to take Rusty to Mongolia, preferably on her own wheels. We're not racing against the clock, but it's not going to be easy, especially since we're not choosing the easy way out: we want to see the 'Stans', meaning most of the ex-USSR countries.
Rusty is by far the most important member
of the team. But since she's got four wheels and four doors, she is
gentle and tame and she always does what her team-mates tell her to
do. She has sweltered and frozen stoically many times and that's why
this trip is going to be her lifetime achievement.
Oana and Florina are always looking for new
adventures. Together, they have travelled in more than 40 countries
and they survived with no problems and no major indigestions. They
like to discover new places and new cultures, and this can only stir
This is us. And for 2 months we plan on
driving for about 14000 km to get to our destination. The roads are
not important; we'll have them all: highways, national roads, county
by-ways, back roads and even dried-up riverbeds. We don't have a lot
of mechanical know-how, nor too many muscles, nor any outside help.
It's gonna be just us, facing unusual situations in places which we
didn't even imagine. In order to make our experience more
'authentic', we want to avoid the comfort of hotels and hot showers,
and so we decided to camp as much as possible on the route and to
manage our mobile household ourselves.
In order to fulfil our dream, we need your
financial support. Apart from the initial costs of fitting the car,
we need to apply for visas, to acquire insurance, to pay for petrol,
food and, once in a while, for accommodation on the way, we need to
obtain equipment, tools and spare tires... All this planning seems
like a never-ending task, so any encouragement and advice is also of
Furthermore, we would like to make our
undertaking known in a positive way: once we return, we wish to
exhibit photographs of our adventure for all those interested in
Central Asia. We also want to make the photographs available for
purchase and to donate all the income to a charitable organization.
This is something we strongly believe in.
Through your support,
you can join us in this adventure. We want to express our gratitude
through photos, stories, and any type of communication methods
available to us along the way. We do have some little perks for our
backers, which means that for any aid of under €20 we'll literally
take you with us: we'll put up stickers with your name on Rusty's
rear doors, so we'll really glue your fate to ours. If you're willing
to donate anything between €20 and €50, that sticker with your
name will be bigger and more noticeable. Lastly, for any financial
support exceeding €50, we'll paste a message of your choosing on
our car to any Azeris, Kyrgyz, Russians or Mongolians or whatever
you want to say and it'll go wherever we go. Any donation is a real
joy for us, whether it's here, on GoGetFunding, or straight into our
Moreover, the more people know of our
tricky trial, the better. So tell your friends about us; tell your
family; tell your university mates and your office colleagues; tell
the Uber driver and your dentist; tell your piano teacher, your boss
and even the guys in HR. More support means that we are getting
closer to fulfilling a dream and that we can actually help someone in
need through charitable acts.
We're dreamers but we're also optimistic:
we believe that dreams can become reality and that we need to do our
best to make them come true. Help us prove that it can be done!
