Campaign Story
(Note:
USD, AUD, GBP, CAD, Euro Paypal links are at the bottom if you prefer to do it directly instead and since I can only have one currency at a time on here. Had to remove direct card payments because it takes 20 days before it can be withdrawn from eWallet.)
My mom is a colon cancer (3 years of being cancer free)
and Covid survivor (fully vaccinated). Because of her cancer, they had
to give her an urostomy and colostomy (that is currently not being used
because they had to give her a temporary ileostomy during emergency
surgery instead due to attachment issues.) So we are no strangers to
hospital visits and medical bills but this time we are not able to fully
cope with them.
In January
she got very sick with sepsis to the point where they didn't think she
would survive. The day we walked into ICU when we were informed, the
doctor told us that there is a 90% chance that my mom won't survive
because of how sick she is and it being a gram-negative infection.
My mom stayed in ICU from January 19th to February 2nd. She received
critical care for the majority of the stay. Her kidneys completely
failed so she had to get dialysis, her blood pressure had to be
maintained with adrenaline since her blood pressure dropped to dangerous
levels. She couldn't maintain it without adrenaline. The moment they
paused the flow, her blood pressure dropped again. She also received
expensive yet powerful antibiotics as well as blood and plasma
transfusions.
These are just some of the treatments she received.
Long story short, my mom recovered enough to leave ICU. Stayed in a normal ward till February 4th then got discharged.
So we have doctors, physiotherapists, dieticians, pathologists, an
anesthetist, the ones responsible for the dialysis, etc involved. The medical aid have tariffs for everything
and most of these people involved ask more than the medical aid is
willing to pay. Some even asking three times more. Which is adding up to
a large sum of money.
We have already started selling some of our belongings so we can at least have food and electricity.
I am a fully qualified teacher but unfortunately I am unable to find a job to help pay since I am also helping my mom with the rest of her recovery.
I have nothing to offer in return for any donations but just know that we will be so grateful.
The money will be used to pay the medical bills and to help us with daily subsistence.
I am staying with my parents and the money will be paid to me directly and from there it will go out to the relevant people because there are quite a few of them as mentioned.
We would appreciate it if you would be so kind as to share this with others as well.

Mom is doing great!
Update posted by Marna Louw at 06:52 pmMy mom has been doing amazingly well. She recovered and is going strong. My mom did end up in hospital again for a second time after the time she nearly died. This time she thankfully had a new doctor. He fixed my mom and turns out that her Ileostomy is. . . . .
Dialysis
Update posted by Marna Louw at 02:31 pmMy mom will need to get dialysis now. The Covid, sepsis, and negligence in certain cases have caused damage to my mom's kidney functions. They still work but not as well as they should. We hope that there will be some improvement now that we are treating her metabolic acidosis and
Back in hospital
Update posted by Marna Louw at 10:05 amMy mom had to go back to the hospital this morning (12/03/2022) because she has been getting weaker again with similar symptoms like last time. Mom went to the ER a few days ago but the doctor there did tests and said that her kidney functions were fine but that. . . . .
