Campaign Story
Hi, my name is Christopher Alviar. I want to introduce our mom, Eleanor Alviar
She's very hardworking and was able to provide for us and was able to help us finish our college education. I've got two sisters as well who were able to finish college and have our own family already.
Last February 2018, she was to undergo laparoscopy on her gall bladder. During her clearance procedure it was discovered thatr there was a mass in her lungs and we had to clear that first before undergoing the operation. After all the examinations, CT Scans, and underwent biopsy. Results came out March 17 and it was Adenocarcinoma with Papillary Features,
Picture together with our sister after diagnosis, trying to keep positive countenance.
Because the result of the ct scan had papillary features, we had to go another exam for the thyroid and we found out that it also has nodules. We still have no idea were she got the cancer and if it is isolated only in the lungs, so the doctor ordered a PET scan to determine the full extent of the cancer and to determine the stage.
PET scan came out and the cancer is only isolated in her left lungs. We were given a choice to undergo immediate chemo or surgery first. We opted for surgery. She underwent surgery just this April 12, 2018. Consequently, our grandmother broke her leg as well during that day and had to be confined to the hospital.
After the operation
Half of left lung removed
The operation was a success and she was able to be discharged April 16. Sadly, our grandmother died the previous day.
There were also small nodules found in the lungs as well and it was confirmed that it is already in Stage 3a - Non small cell Lung Cancer. She has to undergo a series of chemotherapy because of the result and must be done as soon as possible. Our oncologist recommended we take Alimta with Cisplatin, the medicine alone would cost about Php190,000 which is to be done every 21 days. We would need to raise Php 1,000,000 to cover the medicine as well as the procedure.
We would need all the help we can get to help our mom fight this disease.
Thanks
Alviar Family
