As one: Funding Mame Meying’s Breast Cancer Treatment

Our dear mom, selfless grandmother, loving sister, dedicated wife, and a reliable friend to many, Merilyn Dicolen Pagatpatan known to most as “Meying”, 66 years of age was diagnosed just last month (May 2021) with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. She had kept it to herself for quite a while and when she finally shared it with our dad, she asked him not to tell anyone about her situation. Our worried father talked to us, their children, and so, we immediately convinced our mom to have the lumps on her breast checked, asap.

The doctors found abnormalities in the lumps and conducted several laboratory tests, including breast ultrasound, creatinine blood test, liver ultrasound, 2D echocardiography, CT scan, bone scan, and core needle biopsy. The biopsy result came out positive for cancer and unfortunately, on her bone scan, it was found that there was already a little spread on her right sacroiliac. Nevertheless, we are still grateful that it has not yet spread to her other vital organs. Her medical oncologist advised her to undergo 8 cycles of chemotherapy which will be done every 3 weeks before they take out the tumors seen on both breasts. Her first chemo session will start on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. We are continuously praying hard that her body will respond well to the treatment plan.

Our dad and we, her 3 children, are all contributing to fund the procedures she is required to undertake but it is still not enough to cover all her medical needs as there is still a long way to go before she completes her chemo and her upcoming surgery. We really need all the help that we can get to provide her with the best care to overcome this disease.

Prayers are of course very welcome and to our dear friends, we humbly ask you to include her in your prayers. We have already raised money among the immediate family but if you have a little more to spare for your “Anti Meying” in her treatment and fight against this disease, it will really mean so much for us.
