Conquering the 800km Camino de Santiago Trail - July 2013

My trusty dog and I are embarking on an adventure of a lifetime. We will be starting from Sydney, landing in the UK and then onto France and ending in Spain.

As you can appreciate, it has been a challenging plan from the beginning - logistically and financially. Getting myself and my dog, Indy, from Sydney to the UK, then France and Spain will be a very costly and life changing exercise. But brave plans require BRAVER hearts!.. And as they say, Nothing ventured... Nothing gained!

We had to start our pilgrim discipline early. First off, I quit my job (a perfectly heart-thumping endeavour!) Then made the decision to sell, donate and throw out all our worldly goods so we could arrive in Europe with our whole entire life in 3 suitcases! This exercise will help to fund our travel costs and get some much needed trail equipment.

More than that, Indy and I were also keen to fundraise for our favourite charities. My sponsorship money will go to Life Changing Experiences Foundation & The Leisl Gerdes Fund . My dog Indy will be raising money for the RSPCA.

We will officially start our pilgrimage from France to Santiago de Compostella in Spain, along the ancient Camino trail. It will be a journey of discovery & simple pleasures, and we want to ensure that we stay true to the pilgrim spirit and hope to do a lot of good along the way.

Back when pilgrims originally walked this trail, they relied on the kindness of strangers to provide them their shelter and their sustenance, in exchange for a prayer & a blessing on their benefactors' behalf when they reached Santiago de Compostella.

We are planning on being on the trail for 50 days where we will require shelter & sustenance each day... According to the Camino forums, the advice is to budget for €40 per day.

In the spirit of the Camino, we are asking our friends, family & the Go Get Funding community to sponsor with the following options:

1. a day on the trail for €40 (up to 50 days max)

2. fund some of our trail equipment*

3. fund some of Indy's protective dog gear*

4. fund some of Indy's travel costs*

5. An outright donation for the Life Changing Experiences Foundation

6. An outright donation for the Leisl Gerdes Fund

7. An outright donation for the RSPCA

* a full list of these items will be on the additional images above.

When you supply us with your sponsorship, please indicate which option 1-7 you are selecting so we can ensure your funds are forwarded as per your preference.

Still keeping within the pilgrim spirit, if you wish to have a blessing shared when we get to Santiago de Compostella, please email me & I will faithfully chant your special message as I light a candle inside the church.

Our sincere appreciation for your generosity, goodwill & wholehearted support of our life changing adventure.

Big, Big Thanks,

Maz & Indy
