Because of everything Moli has been through in the last couple of years, we had to include experts into her training. Sirius (Indigo) organization is engaged in socialization and resocialization of abused and traumatized dogs. Dog coaches are now working with Moli and they will provide her with and replace missed experiences she should have been exposed to during socialization period (between weeks 3 and 12 of puppy age, but that part was not done by previous owners either) and mitigate negative experiences she gained in her life.

Here's what coach Vedrana says: “ Moli is a 2-year old very active, intelligent and cheerful dog. However, in those two years nobody taught her that people are OK, so she's very skeptical and nervous around them. Unfortunately, when she began to show signs of timidity or fear, everything her previous owners did with her was wrong. So Moli had to find a way on her own on how to deal with the discomfort of the environment. As with most dogs, that meant chasing away everything your're afraid of by running and barking which is unacceptable to us humans. Unfortunately, no one sees that fear in her, they only see a dangerous dog. Moli was not born this way, but no one knew how to lead her and show her how to deal with the environment. She was on her own which then, with time, reflected to her other needs. As she had to find a way to deal with the discomfort of the environment on her own, she started looking for ways to have fun without developing the human-dog relationship. Moli is now undergoing a full resocialization. This means that everything she learned in those two years of her life needs to be „erased“ so she can start over. We are working with Moli gradually, teaching her that humans are OK, that the human can be a support, teaching her to let herself be led by a guide and instead of dealing with discomfort and her needs (playing, running, feeding) on her own, we teach her to deal with those with the help of a guide. Unfortunately, the problem Moli has was easily solvable at the very beginning, but timid dogs are often pampered or ignored by people, letting them (out of ignorance) get used to the fear which then turns into unacceptable behaviour in the society, meaning running and barking at everything that causes discomfort or attacking things. Apart from that, the dog is additionally alienating itself from their human in other aspects and needs.“

Moli really deserves a second chance, but we won't be able to give it to her on our own. Training costs 100HRK per day, she has been there for about 3 weeks now, but nobody knows how much longer she'll need to stay at the training centre. Dogs sometimes stagnate and then move forward very quickly. Anyone who would like to help in covering training expenses, please do so by donating. Thank you to everyone who is willing to support Moli and give her the chance to finally live the real, laid back dog life.
