Modesta with LaunchX MIT Summer Program

Growing up I have always sought for opportunities that enhance the actualization of my dream as Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship have always been the core of my dream. At the age of 15, I launched Our Cries social enterprise which currently gives Tanzanian high school students a safe platform where they can speak up and raise issues that seek to improve their school experiences (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-43836572 ).

In line with my consistent search for opportunity, a month ago I got admitted at the MIT LaunchX Summer program Massachetus Institute of Technology, MIT LaunchX is a four weeks summer program which helps students leverage their talents and tenacity to build a viable startup while training them in skills and innovative thinking that will allow them to create successful businesses, challenging them to take a real startup from idea to execution and impact.Most excitingly, participants will interact and learn directly from industrial experts while working in groups of peer in addressing some of the world’s biggest challenges. I regard this program as a very precious opportunity as it presents me with the chance to globally engage and collaborate with other youths of diverse communities as we challenge ourselves and furnish creativity that impacts the world at large.I have been admitted into the program with a financial aid that covers only the tuition fees and therefore I am responsible to cover the cost of my visa, flight tickets and meals for four weeks stay in the States. Due to my inability to pay for these costs thus using this platform to reach out to all friends and the public as a whole to financially support me to attend this program.

In the future, I want to pursue a masters in Entrepreneurship and innovation management and therefore I think attending this program will add new knowledge and experience that would continue to nurture my passion into achieving this dream.

Cost Breakdown:

Flight tickets - $1700, Visa - $160, Ground transit on arrival and departure - $80 and Meals - $500. Total: $2440
