Good day,

I sincerely hope we can help this school.

The Mocha Princess Farewell Drive (#MochaPrincessProject) is a drive aimed at giving underprivileged and disadvantagedmatric pupils the experience of a matric farewell (prom experience). These are kids whose families cannot afford to buy them farewell outfits or make any kind of contributions towards making their farewell happen and neither does the school, Far North High School in Johannesburg, South Africa.

My name is Wendy, a mother of four, a wife and homemaker am the person behind this drive.

I was moved by the plight of people of (Zandspruit Informal Settlement) and in seeking to make a difference in someone’s life I approached the high schools in the area in hopes of identifying learners I can help as they leave high school and transition into life as young adults either in the work place or tertiary. The first need when I identified when I came to the high school services most of the catchment area was to that their farewell had been cancelled. In my video I share why I decided to start my campaign with this event. Why it is so important to celebrate these kids achievement which in this day and age, especially with their challenges as some are from child headed homes, it is no small task and how it can encourage them about their future. This event will take $2900 to make happen for 69 kids.

Of the funds $3000 will assist in buying uniforms for the class of 2017. One of the things that really broke my heart was seeing tattered short colors when I recently met all the 2016 class pupils. It would mean everything to me to know that a child is wearing school uniform they feel proud in, that does not advertise their condition to all and sundry. I feel this goes a long way in building ones self image.

The remaining $900 will go into buying a projector and workshop stationary as I would like to use myt extensive experience in training for corporate to facilitate workshops every Saturday from January to end February at the school. The principal ( Mr. Morapeng has agreed to use of the facilities). These workshops would cover communication skills, interview preparation, work etiquette and ethics, and customer service as not all of them will be getting bursaries and sponsorships to tertiary some will have to enter the work place. The most urgent of these needs are an overhead projector which the school will take ownershop of.

Thank you in advance for your kindness.
