We have been hearing stories like these

Juan, a taxi driver from the Philippines and the sole breadwinner of his family, is having a difficult time because his daily income has been reduced from $10 to around $5. This was due to the government-imposed lockdowns because of COVID-19. His earning is not enough to support a family of 5. Juan is also an expert mechanic.

Fathima, a secretary of an events company in Sri Lanka and a single mom of 2. She was laid off because of the Pandemic because outdoor events are no longer allowed. The company she is working for is almost on the brink of bankruptcy. She is computer savvy but is unable to find new jobs during this challenging time.

Tomas, a tour guide, did not have any source of income because the tourism industry is at a standstill. Tomas is willing to do errands for his neighbors as a side hustle.

Like Juan, Fathima, and Tomas, many around the world have lost their jobs or whose income has been greatly affected by the Pandemic. However, even before COVID, people around the world have been doing side hustles to make ends meet.

Our goal is to connect people like Juan, Fathima, and Tomas, with potential clients via a mobile app: Assist.

Through Assist, many skilled people can offer their services via the app. It is a freemium mobile application that connects service providers and users of the app.

Do you need a plumber? Simply go to Assist.
Do you need a data encoder? Assist can help.
Do you need a tutor? There is an Assistant near you.

My name is Earl Bumotad, founder of Assist.

Please help me launch Assist by pledging your donation to help the thousands of Filipinos, Sri Lankans, and the millions of people around the world, find their extra source of income within their neighborhood or their city!

Our goal via the app is to help create employment during this time of uncertainty and be at the forefront of a post-Pandemic world in helping revitalize local prosperity by powering progress and delivering positive social change and economic growth.

THE STORY:

At the onset of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Earl, started getting involved in Facebook groups aimed at providing assistance to those who were in need. He started a local fundraising — For Our Manongs, Manangs, Ates and Kuyas — to help the auxiliary personnel of local hospitals. He also started a Facebook page, 7000 Helping Hands, connecting people needing help and those who are willing to help.

However, this wasn’t sustainable. Earl explored ideas that would be able to help the majority who have been hard-hit by the pandemic, including a platform that enables people to find skilled workers within the neighborhood. This is the birth of ASSIST.
